U15 & U19 First Half Round-Up

FIRST WEEKEND OF INTER-COUNTIES COMPLETE FOR OUR U15 & U19 TEAMS.

Sunday 15th was the first Inter-county of the season for Northumbria squash with teams competing in but U15 and U19 boys and girls in various places around the country. There was success for the girls in both ages.

Girls U19 travelled to to play against Merseyside and Cheshire, the team was Kimberley Hay, Sara Potter, Hannah Cliffe, Sophie Cassidy and Helen Scott. After beating Merseyside 5-0 they had a very tough match against Cheshire with Helen winning a very close decider after coming back from 2-0 and 7-2 down to win, great effort.

For the U15 team it was a bit tougher playing on home courts at The Northumberland club . The team was Rachel Oswald, Sophie Wylde, Katherine de Keiweit, Samantha Ward and Katherine Shoesmith. They played Cumbria first of all and despite winning at 1 & 2 they lost the match 3-2. They then played Durham & Cleveland and beat them 4-1 which means they advance to the along with Cumbria. Well done .

The boys U19 team travelled a short distance to Durham and Cleveland to play against both Durham and Lancashire. The team was Liam Gutcher , David Elsender, Richard Shellam, Matthew Hardy, Richard McCallister and Alex Storey. They were to finish in second place after beating Durham & Cleveland and losing to Lancashire.

The boys U15 played there matches at Carlisle squash club against Yorkshire, Durham & Cleveland and Cumbria. The details are to follow.
