Over the weekend 26th/27th of September The Northumberland club hosted this years junior county closed sponsored by DB GLAZIERS. With 90 entries and 10 events from under 9 through to under 19’s boys and girls the event was a huge success with some top quality squash throughout and the odd surprise!
MIXED U9 – LEWIS FOLLIN bt MAX FORSTER 3-1
Played over a 2 hour period on Sunday afternoon the U9’s played in 2 groups with the top players of each contesting the final. Lewis Follin was favourite and duly delivered the victory beating a very promising Max Forster, both definately looking good for the future.
GIRLS U11 – 1st LAURA NEILL, 2nd FAYE GROOM, 3rd MARTHA SPALDING
Laura Neill came out on top of a round robin group beating all her opponents 3-0 to take the title convincingly.
BOYS U11 – JOE WAREING bt MICHAEL MATTIMORE 3-1
Joe Wareing defended the title he won last year but did have a tough challenge this time out against the fast improving Mattimore, Wareing at only 9 years old will be back next year to possibly make it a hat trick.
GIRLS U13 – CHARLOTTE COOPER bt IONA JENKINS 3-0
It was a totally dominant performance by Charlotte Cooper in this event , she not only didn’t drop a game but hardly dropped any points, a very impressive victory.
BOYS U13 – DAN WAREING bt ALEX ROBERTSON 3-1
The older brother of U11 champion Joe, Dan won this event and is becoming a complete player and has improved a lot recently and deserved this title. The chasing pack are also fast improving making for a very strong county team.
GU15 – LUCY BEECROFT bt MARIA BAINBRIDGE 3-0
Lucy Beecroft was again in dominating form winning the county title to go along with many other events she is winning these days, still only 12 years old!
BU15 – SIMON GRABHAM bt ELLIOTT CARR 3-1
A repeat of last years U13 final and a repeat of the result with Grabham winning the most closely contested event of the weekend. There were 6 players with a shout of winning this event and some very closely fought matches .
GU17 – SAMANTHA WARD bt LUCY BEECROFT 3-1
Sam has been fast improving in recent time and won a deserved county title in a very high quality final against the U15 champion Lucy Beecroft.
BU17 – COLE WINDSCHEFFEL bt HARRY CARR 3-0
A very determined final performance by Windscheffel playing to his potential and beating number one seed Carr in a mature high quality final by both.
BU19 – CHRISTIAN BECK bt COLE WINDSCHEFFEL 3-0
It wasn’t double success for Windscheffel in his second final although he played well it was no match for Christian Beck who won with a controlled highpace performance winning 3-0.
