Northumbria Clean Sweep at Tynemouth

Tynemouths Junior Open took place over the May Bank Holiday weekend with entrants from far and wide looking to upset our counties many entrants in this England Squash Bronze level event.

It was however in the end total dominance for our local players with some impressive performances.

SIMON GRAHAM won the round robin u17 event beating Yorkshires Farouk Forster into second place as he won all 3 of his matches comfortably.

ELLIOTT CARR beat number 1 seed Connor Sheen with a very mature and measured performance final to take the u15 title with Dan Wareing also doing well to push Sheen to 5 games in the semi final.

CHARLOTTE COOPER won the round robin u15 girls beating Cumbrias Megan Singleton 3-2 and 13-11 in the fifth in the deciding fixture.

CHRIS WIGGINS was playing in his last u13 event with his 13th birthday coming up in a few days and he won his first England Squash event beating Tynemouths Jamie Todd a very entertaining fast paced final.

LAURA NEILL fought off strong Yorkshire opposition in her round robin u13 event beating both Zoe Kaiser and Charlotte Fish to take the title at the young age of 10.

ANGUS FORSTER was on top form all through the boys u11 event starting the day beating number 2 seed Ross Singleton from Cumbria and finishing it in the final with a close 3-1 win over Northumbrian team mate Lewis Follin.

Great results for Northumbrian players and a very successful event organised by Ray Rycroft Tynemouths club coach.
