A really good team performance , with Tony Pensom (Consett) leading off against Cumbria, and setting the standard with a 3-0 win. Adrian Alderton (Hexham) followed with another convincing 3/0 against the number 1. Andrew Wilkinson (Hexham) followed in a really tough game at 2. 2-0 down but always a fighter, Andrew pulled it back to 2-2, then finished it off in the 5th. So, 3-0 against Cumbria.
We were expecting a tough game against Lancs, and I stuck with the same team. Once again Tony got us off to a great start with a convincing 3-0, setting up a tough game at 1 for Adrian. And it proved to be a tough contest, with a dodgy marker (me!). Adrian proved his metal however and triumphed 3-1, to seal the team win. That left the dead rubber for Andrew, who was definitely saving himself for the Hexham team match the following day! However, a 2-1 win sealed our place in the National finals on the the weekend of 30th April.
