Hexham squash player Adrian Alderton took victory in the Welsh Masters Squash competition at Swansea Squash and Tennis club. After missing out last year with covid he was keen to take on this years strong field in the O65 category.
After navigating prelimary rounds a tough challenge ensued in the semi final against Ceredig Emanuel (Carmarthen). This close match swung too and fro with dropshot expert Ceredig drawing level at 2-2. Adrian stuck to a length game and managed to close out the match for a 3-2 success. In the final Adrian was on good form against Paul Hounsell (Rhiwbina, Cardiff). His accurate volley drops and short play proved too strong for Paul and took a 3-0 victory.
For the observant you’ll have noted they only have one good knee between them which is clearly what gave Adrian the edge.
