A trio of masters players from our county were called up to represent their country in this year’s Master Home Internationals. Teams from across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland faced off in a round-robin event to be crowned champions of their age group.
It’s no surprise Bryan Beeson (Northumberland Club) was selected to play for the England O60s team, given his recent British O60s title win. Bryan certainly lived up to expectations, winning all 3 of his matches 3-0 to help England cruise to top spot with a maximum of 60 points!
In the O65s event, held in Dublin, the Welsh O65s champion Adrain Alderton (Hexham) was given the daunting task of leading the line as Wales’ no.1. The team finished 4th, but it was still a memorable experience for Adrian to captain his county.
Consett’s Tony Pensom made his maiden England appearance in the O70s event in Cardiff. Tony played his part in England’s unbeaten run to 1st place, winning both of his games 3-0.
Congratulations to Bryan, Adrian and Tony for this amazing achievement!
