This year the JOHN DALE TROPHY was awarded to ZOE SHIPSEY.
The award was created in memory of Northumbria’s outstanding squash player JOHN DALE who sadly died from cancer 13 years ago. The trophy has been awarded each year since to the ‘best performing’ Northumbria junior player.
Zoe, 17, has been a top performer in local junior squash for many years, if there is an event to play in or a team to be selected Zoe is always there. Her enthusiasm for playing and practising is high and never seems to diminish.
She plays a very pleasing on-the-eye, attacking brand of squash, takes it to her opponent and shows a determination to win whilst always being well-mannered and showing great sportsmanship.
Zoe’s enthusiasm for playing has now crossed over to coaching, where she helps out with the younger generation of players. There is no better role model and example for those young players to look up to.
Congratulations Zoe.
