    FIRST HALF SEASON 2010/11

On the 10th of  October the team travelled to CUMBRIA to play the hosts and DURHAM & CLEVELAND.

    Venue- Dalton, Cumbria.

Team- Dan Wareing, Harry Steward, Chris Wiggins, Alex Robertson , Lewis Wake and Jamie Todd.

    Report from Elaine Robertson -

The U15 Northumbria County boys team travelled down to Dalton Squash Club on 10th October 2010 for the first round of the yearly Inter-county Championship run by England Squash.

The team consisted of Dan Wareing, Harry Steward, Chris Wiggins, Alex Robertson, Lewis Wake and Jamie Todd. After a very long journey and a quick bite of food, the boys faced Durham and Cleveland first.

Dan got off to a good start with a 2 – 0 lead against Joe Dale, but Joe fought bravely back to take the next 2 games. As always though, Dan stood his ground and pulled back the 5th game to win 3 – 2.
Harry Steward was then caught off-guard by a great performance from Haydn Maclean, and lost out 1 – 3. Chris, Alex, Lewis and Jamie then all followed with brilliant 3 – 0 wins over the rest of the D & C team.Following a brief half hour rest, the team then confidently faced the hosts, Cumbria. Yet again, Dan played a nail biting match against Jake Twentyman, with the score in the first game running up to 18 – 16. Dan took the following two games more comfortably to manage a 3 – 0 win. The rest of the boys followed suit with their matches and all finished up with 3 – 0 wins over Cumbria. This win secures the team through to the next round of the Inter- Counties Competition 2010.
    Well done Northumbria Under 15’s!!
