Junior ICC Finals – 2024

After 8 of our 9 teams progressed through Stage 1 of the Junior Inter County Championships last November, with the BU13s, GU13s, BU15s and Boys and Girls U19s reaching the main finals and the GU15s and Boys and Girls U17s making it to the plate finals.

Boys U13
Team: James Southern, William Brocklehurst, Magnus McKay, Kiran Sarkar, Harry Bealle & William Ingram
Position: 4th
The boys were seeded 2 in the event and won round 1 3-2 to set up a 2nd round with Surrey. The very strong Surrey team won 5-0 (and went on to win the event), and a close loss to Leicestershire meant the team finished 4th overall.

Girls U13
Team: Emma Little, Lucy Ulyatt, Meera Jatania & Louisa Westwood
Position: 8th
The U13s put in some great performances, but as the 8th seed, they were always up against tough opponents. They lost 3-0 to the top seed in round one, then lost to the 4th seed in round 2. The closest match came in the final round narrowly losing 2-1 to 3rd seed to finish 8th overall.

Boys U15
Team: Duncan Rutherford, Sam Tufton, Aidan Mahoney, James Ullyat & Leo Blackett
Position: 6th
After a tight defeat to Hampshire, the team beat Warwickshire B 4-1 in the 2nd round. The final match could have gone either way, but unfortunately Gloucestershire won 11 games to 9 for the U15s to finish in 6th.

Girls U15
Team: Rebecca Little, Isla Cook & Freya Finnemore
Position: 4th
A great win against Warwickshire B and 2 losses saw the U15s finish 4th overall, just missing out on 3rd place, as they were level on points but lost out on game difference.

Boys U17
Team: Dan Toole, Matthew Ansell, Tom Watts, Ethan Brown & Euan Wayman
Position: 3rd
The U17s team finished 3rd to clinch the bronze medal in the plate event, winning 1 of their 3 matches. This included a very close encounter with Lincolnshire where 4 of the 5 matches went to the 5th game.

Girls U17
Team: Shae Paterson, Ava Naisbitt & Kate Naisbitt
Position: 1st
An almost flawless performance from Shae, Ava & Kate. 3 wins from 3 with just 1 game dropped gave the team a well-deserved 1st place in the plate event.

Boys U19
Team: Lewis Cruz, Joe Elliott, Dylan Newton & Tom Jepson
Position: 6th
The boys lost in round 1 to event winners Surrey, then got a walkover win in the 2nd round. The team then lost the 5th/6th playoff 3-0 v Warwickshire to place 6th.

Girls U19
Team: Zoe Shipsey, Grace Moore & Katherine Palmer
Position: 3rd
A 2-1 loss to Hampshire and a 3-0 defeat to Essex saw the team finish in the bronze medal position. However, Katherine won in her county debut vs Hampshire.

Well done to all the teams who performed admirably and did the county proud with their attitude on and off court.

Full results.
