Team North East finished the junior squash season in style as they were crowned overall champions of the Aspire Regional Team Championships, powered on by a number of Northumbria junior stars!
The 3 North East teams, each consisting of 4 boys and 4 girls from Northumbria, Durham & Cleveland & Yorkshire, competed last weekend in Division 1 (U17s), Division 2 (U15s) & Division 3 (U13s) with the aim of retaining their 2024 title!
Huey Lamb was our sole representative in the Division 3 squad, but played his part in the final, winning 3-0 to help defeat the South East 6-3 and claim 1st place!
In Division 2, James Southern, Lucy Ulyatt and William Brocklehurst helped their team to a 4th-place finish, narrowly losing the 3rd/4th playoff to the East.
The North East team reached the final in Division 1 and faced the South East. It was a dominating display for the North East, coming away with a 7-2 victory, including a 3-0 win for Ava Naisbitt and a 3-1 win for Aidan Mahoney, while Duncan came through a 5-game thriller!
Well done to all the North East team members and coaches on a very successful weekend!
