Three’s the Magic Number for Turnbull

Cayman Islands Squash Team

County women’s player Emma Turnbull (Newcastle Uni/Northumberland) was selected to play for the Cayman Islands in the 2025 International Island Games in Orkney!

The games see 24 member islands from across the world participate every 4 years in 12 sports, including athletics, cycling, football and most importantly, squash!

Emma was part of the squash team that took the event by storm, taking a total of 7 medals, and all but 1 of the gold medals. The squash started with the individual events where Emma cruised to the women’s final, where she picked up the silver medal after a 3-1 loss to teammate, and former Newcastle Uni Ladies player, Jade Pitcairn.

Women’s Doubles Final

Emma and Jade then joined forces to take the gold medal in the women’s doubles without dropping a game, and backed up their dominance by beating Jersey, Orkney, Gibraltar, Isle of Man and the Shetland Islands to take top spot in the team event!
