This was the 2nd event at Boldon and what a day it was with 60 players competing in 108 matches over 11 hours!
In the A event, Welsh no4 and world no130 Owain Taylor sailed through to the final with dominant displays over Northern clubmates Chris Thompson and Duncan Rutherford. In the other half Cai Younger reached the final after an entertaining semi final with Andrew Black who snuck into his first A grade semi-final after Paul Lord retired injured.
The final was a high quality affair with Cai doing his best to contain the professional (with a bit of time wasting to get his breath back), but Owain showed his experience with some fantastic length hitting, soaking up pressure like a mop and taking control of the pace for a comfortable 11/6 11/6 victory which completed his hat trick over Northern 1st team members on the day.
The rest of the event results were as follows:
A Plate: Chris Thompson bt Lewis Kilkenny – 13/11 – 12/10
B Event: Jack Teasdale bt William Milne – 11/8 – 9/11 – 13/11

Player of the event was Ellie Parsons (Primrose). Ellie went in to the D Event as bottom seed in a very strong 16 draw, but managed to win 2 matches out of 4, beating some higher seeded players and increasing 23.7% SquashLevels in a single day!
Junior of the Event James Morton (Concordia) also went into the day as a huge underdog seeded 15 out of 16 in the D grade, but managed to pull out a big win in the plate quarter finals to finish 12th overall and increase 14.1% SquashLevels on the day!
Congratulations to all the winners, runners-up and all those who participated, a big thank you to Boldon for hosting!
The next MatchPoint tournament is at Warrington Sports Club on 13th December!
