JUNIOR ICC 2025/26 – FINALS

There was a new format for Junior Inter County Championships this year, with each age group split into 2 divisions: the premiership and the championship.

Last year’s inter county results were used to rank the best teams 8 in the premiership, and all remaining teams were placed in the championship. The top 2 teams from the championship gain promotion for the following season, while the bottom 2 from the premiership are relegated.

We had 4 teams in the championship (BU11, BU15, GU13 & GU17) and 5 teams in the premiership (BU13, BU17, BU19, GU15 & GU19), all competing in Sheffield across 21st and 22nd March!

BU11 – 5th/6th in Championship

Squad: Joshua Lim, Marwan Dawood, Freddie Gilberg & Archer Robson

The boys lost their opening round against Nottingham & Derbyshire 2-1, where Archer won his match 2-0, followed by a 3-0 loss to Cumbria, 6-3 in games. The final match was another close affair, where Freddie won his match, but the team ultimately lost 2-1 to finish 8th.

BU13 – 7th in Premiership

Squad: Zachary Mahmood, Isaac Woodsford, Tom Young, Hector Wilkinson & Huey Lamb

A tough opening round v Surrey resulted in a 4-1 loss, with Huey getting the sole victory. Next round was much closer, Huey won 3-0 again, and Tom battled to an excellent 3-2 win, but it just wasn’t enough as losses at 2,3 and 4 meant a 3-2 loss overall to Warwickshire.

The boys then got a bye in the final round, which handed them a 7th-placed finish.

GU13 – 3rd/4th in Championship

Squad: Eloise Davies, Salma Barkouk, Charlotte Roberston & Lucy Barnett

Lucy and Eloise both won 3-0 to give the team an opening in the group v Gloucestershire, but a very marinal 2-1 loss to Essex A resulted in a 2nd placed finish just 10 points behind Essex!

BU15 – 1st in Championship

Squad: Yu-Yang Chui, Kiran Sarkar, James Southern, Magnus McKay & William Brocklehurst

The under-15 boys entered the event with a strong squad, and kicked off in round 1 with a perfect 5-0 win against Hertfordshire, without dropping a single game. Round 2 was much closer, but wins from James at 1, William at 2, and Kiran at 4 saw us advance to the championship final.

The team started with a 1-0 lead as opponents Kent only had a 4-player squad. Taking advantage of that, James won his 3rd match in a row, and Charlie won at 3 to put the boys on the top step of the podium, and into the Premiership next season!

GU15 – 6th in Premiership

Squad: Lucy Ulyatt, Meera Jatania, Emma Little, & Louisa Westwood

A tough group saw the girls lose their 2 games 3-0 and move on to the 5th/6th playoff match vs Warwickshire B. The playoff couldn’t have been much closer, but excellent 3-2 wins by Emma and Lucy saw the team win by 2 matches to 1 to place 5th!

BU17 – 4th in Premiership

Squad: James Ulyatt, Duncan Rutherford, Aidan Mahoney, Charlie Armstrong & Sam Tufton

A great showing in the premiership ended with a 4th place finish and another year in the top division for the BU17 team. A narrow 3-2 win vs Hampshire saw victories for Duncan, Aidan and Sam, but was followed by consecutive 4-1 defeats to Surrey A in round 2 and Yorkshire in the 3rd/4th playoff.

GU17 – 3rd/4th in Championship

Squad: Freya Finnemore, Clara Westwood, Isla Cooke & Rebecca Little

A convincing 3-0 win vs Lancashire was a good start to the group, as Rebecca, Freya and Isla all won 2-0! The 2nd match was against event winners Wales A, who delivered a 3-0 defeat to our team.

BU19 – 7th/8th in Premiership

Squad: Euan Wayman, Dan Toole & Roshan Gupta

It was always going to be a tough ask in the premier, but the under-19 boys put up a good effort. Losing to a very strong Warwickshire team 3-0 in round 1, then a 2-1 loss against Buckinghamshire in round 2 to end in a 7th/8th place finish.

GU19 – 4th in Premiership

Squad: Kate Naisbitt, Shae Paterson & Ava Naisbitt

The girls under-19 performed well in the top division, finishing 4th nationally with 282 points. Highlights were a 3-0 win against Warwickshire A and an incredible 3-2 win 12-10 in the 5th for Shae against the Yorkshire number 1.

Overall, it was a good showing from our junior teams, all the players did the county proud, gave 100% on court and had a great attitude throughout!
