James Southern shone in the BU15 category of the East of England Gold event last weekend.
Seeded 5/8, James eased through his opening 2 rounds to set up a quarter-final with 2nd seed, Tristan Sutton. James took a 2-0 lead before being pegged back to 2-2, but rallied well in the 5th to win 11-3!
Next up was the semi-final vs Kylen Calder, the no.3 seed, and James continued his fine form to win 3-0 and advance to his first gold event final at this age group!
The 1 seed and England BU15 no.1 Alexander Koa-Wing was James’ final opponent, and in a match full of top-quality squash, James just fell short, losing 3-1 (11/5 – 11/5 – 10/12 – 11/1).
Congratulations to James on his best-ever BU15 result!
