34 players from 17 clubs played in this weekend’s rapid-fire event, our 2nd at Ashbrooke Sports Club, where we got through 53 high-energy matches in just over 7 hours!
The A event saw the triumphant return of our very own MatchPoint founder Cai Younger, who beat clubmate Duncan Rutherford 2-1 in a brutal, high-intensity final – which saw Cai come back from a game down to clinch his 3rd title!
There was also a very competitive final in the B event which saw Ian Morton just get over the line against the fast-improving Charlie Davies, winning 11-9 in the 3rd, while the C event was an all-junior affair as 2nd seed Magnus McKay beat top seed Kiran Sarkar 2-0. In the D main final, we had yet another junior winner, Yu-Yang Chiu, who beat the 2nd seed, Axl Menlove, 2-1 in another game that went down to the wire!
